I use FranTech/BuyVM IRC Shell Accounts to host these web sites, and to host my ZNC instances and Eggdrop bots.
It's very hard to find reliable shell and hosting accounts that allow hosting IRC services. The ones that do tend to be very old and underpowered, and every single one that I've tried are unreliable. Plus, they add restrictions to your ZNC, BNC or PsyBNC processes.
FranTech allows all IRC services, including running your own IRC Server, and they provide DDOS Protected IP addresses. I have no interest in running an IRC server – I'm just an IRC user. I do run three bots and two ZNC instances, along with the web hosting that I set up through Direct Admin. By the way, you get a free Direct Admin license with your account. Looks for “Free Software Licenses” in the Store menu at FranTech, after you complete your purchase of your shell account. You simply add it to your cart, and “check out” – though the payment process is skipped. With ZNC, you are free to choose and change your IDENTS, etc, at any time. You choose your own ports, and you can easily create custom VHOSTS. I bought a few throw-away cheap domains (.wtf, .monster and .icu, etc) and set up some VHOSTS just for fun. They also take PayPal, which is a big win in my book!
Tip: If you want to run Direct Admin, install and configure it immediately after creating your server instance. Direct Admin installs it's own firewall, and you will want to open your required ports in DA. Otherwise, things can become messy. Plus, any users you create before DA won't be recognized in DA.
The one issue with FranTech/BuyVM is that these are unmanaged services. You will need to have some skill with your chosen Linux distribution. You start out with access to their Stallion Control Panel. This is where you choose your Linux distribution (from a huge list – look at CD-Roms and Templates) and create your server. You can even upload your own custom ISO. It's really quite easy and only takes a few moments to install. Once that's up and running, you can telnet in and start configuring. Bottom line: If you have basic Linux skills, FranTech is perfect for you. If you want to select your linux distribution later, choose the Manually Install Later option when ordering. Don't worry – it's very easy.
FranTech/BuyvM does have exceptionally good customer service and support. I've had to ask a couple questions, and they responded immediately with easy to follow answers. If their techs have time, they will happily assist you – even logging into your instance and doing some quick config tasks or, as in my case, undoing something stupid that I did! Don't count on this “hand's on” help, though – it's not guaranteed. They have their own Discord server that is quite busy, and the people in there will also help you out by answering your questions and offering tips and best practices.
I use the LV RYZEN KVM 4GB shell package for only $15 USD per month. I added a few DDOS protected IPs at $2 USD a month each – it comes with two IPs, one protected, one not. If you need more storage space, they offer Block Storage Slabs – 1 TB is only $5 USD a month. You can buy as little as 256 GB for $1.25 per month. The “slabs” just attach to your server instance. Very slick! Note: if you buy an “LV” package (Las Vegas) you should be sure to order an LV Block Storage Slab. Don't worry if you mess it up – Support will fix you right up.
Bottom line: If you can manage installing your own software (DirectAdmin – optional, ZNC, Eggdrop, etc) and have a little Linux knowledge, FranTech/BuyVM is perfect for you.
