A sub craves domination, and willingly submits to his ‘Superior'. A Beta allows the dominance, as long as their emotional needs are being satisfied. Some subs enjoy the Superior using pain, bondage, and/or humiliation as motivating factors, while Betas need praise and encouragement. A beta can be a sub, and a sub can also be a beta, with one usually taking precedence over the other. Differentiation is important – it determines the best approach for that person.
